Casa Rini is an impressive and large 4 bedroom traditional and fully renovated & refurbished Santorini ‘cave house‘, complete with its own small furnished courtyard and outdoor Jacuzzi. These homes, traditionally ‘carved’ inside the earth’s rock formations, were built in this way throughout the centuries on Greek islands in order to preserve a stable interior temperature throughout the year. In essence a historical, centuries-old bio-climatic architectural design!

Interior

The interior design of Casa Rini is just fantastic. The fusion of a rustic feel and a minimal modern design gives off a charming outcome, ideal for comfortably experiencing life in a traditional Santorinian village home. Large French solid wooden double doors connect the interior to the exterior spaces of Casa Rini. Traditional architectural elements, like curved ceilings, archways and wooden finishes have been impressively preserved throughout, and artfully blend with natural ‘earthly’ colours, wooden textures, and shades of emerald green.

Casa Rini boasts four bedrooms, three of which have double beds, and one has two single beds and is located in a charming little cave space on a lower level. Children seem to love this one! Two of the double bed bedrooms have their own en-suite bathrooms, there is a third bathroom available and one of the double bed bedrooms also has its own separate access to the courtyard.

The open plan living room has built-in sofas with a number of cushions for your full comfort, arty rugs, flat-screen satellite TV, as well as air-conditioning and a heating unit. The kitchen also boasts an impressive design, combining local traditional and contemporary elements, and is fully equipped with all modern appliances and amenities. Free WiFi access is available throughout Casa Rini.

Exterior

The exterior space of Casa Rini, in effect its lovely small courtyard, boasts a Jacuzzi, a comfortable built-in sofa and a small sitting/dining area with a table and chairs. A small and cosy relaxing space, ideal for cooling off and enjoying your coffee, wine or drinks by or in the Jacuzzi. The old yellow courtyard door to the outside, is a final touch in this carefully renovated and designed traditional holiday home, bound to charm and impress you.

Whereabouts

Casa Rini is located in the heart of the quaintly wonderful village of Megalochori, one of the most picturesque traditional villages on the island. The origins of Megalochori have been traced all the way back to the 17th century. It is known for its famous pirate hideaway spots, wine canavas and impressive historical mansions and traditional houses. These are rich in idiosyncratic architectural features like high ceilings, inner courtyards and solid wooden door entrances, whose function was both to ensure privacy as well as protect against pirates that regularly raided the island during medieval times.

Megalochori is therefore a village rich in history and culture, widely celebrated and visited by both locals and visitors. It also boasts a rich history of trade and commerce, as the prosperous land barons systematically exported the famous Vinsanto wine, still produced to this day, across the globe and to lands far beyond.

Casa Rini is so ideally located, that you will be able to seize the most out of, and enjoy this traditional village, as well as explore every other corner of this unique and most charming Greek island.

We strongly recommend using a vehicle, rented or privately-owned, to enjoy the island of Santorini to its fullest potential.

Taxis could also be utilised, though may be scarce at times during specific parts of the season. In general, enjoying full travel independence either way, is a known ingredient in order to have a fantastic time in Santorini.

• We would kindly ask that you respect the neighbours at all times. We urge your attention to the following ‘quiet hours’ enforced by law; during which you must pay special attention; so that there is no disturbing or excessive noise coming from the accommodation:
  • Summer quiet hours (Apr.1-Sep30): 3PM-5.30PM & 11PM-7AM
  • Winter quiet hours (Oct.1-Mar.31): 3.30PM-5.30PM & 10PM-7.30AM
• Upon arrival guests must display a valid form of identification (ID or passport). Also, a short-term rental agreement must be signed as required by current Greek law under the Greek taxation system. Guests will not be able to check in if this requirement is not satisfied.
• This accommodation’s refurbishment and interior design was constructed utilising the finest materials. We expect you to respect it accordingly. Any damages will incur the relevant charges. In case these are not covered by the deposit held, additional charges will be claimed.
